Yesterday I had a roti

Yesterday was Thursday. Yesterday I had a meeting at the office. Yesterday I had a roti. Yesterday is one of my least favourite Beatles songs.

The Roti Awakens

After a brief hiatus, the roti has returned!

Channa roti for lunch today... mmmmmm. I was so excited I think I ate part of the paper wrapping too.

The Lonely Roti

"Hey Michael, do you want a roti?"

I shouted this question into the next room, but Michael wasn't there. He was at home, probably doing Kathleen's laundry or engineering music or something.

I turned around to tell the M-Dot that I was going for roti and if she wanted a double, that I could pick one up ( Ed Note: a double is like a small channa roti). But she wasn't there either. Her desk sits next to an empty chair; the keyboard with the red panic button sits idle.

"Hey Kathleen, remember when Michael and Mishka used to work here?"

I waited for Kathleen to respond.

"Kathleen?"

Nothing.

"Did you know that Sufjan Stevens is releasing a five-disc Christmas album in November?"

...

"No, you don't know that because you aren't here either; you're on vacation."

I picked up lunch alone today. Few things in life are more saddening than a solitary roti.

Lunch doesn't taste the same without you, David

Yesterday I had falafel for lunch, and roti for dinner. But it didn't taste the same without David.

Come back David!!

Memories of David

David has the day off. In his honour (and at his desk) I am eating a channa and vegetable roti from Island Foods. Yes, I have returned to the island.

Squash good.

Sweet mother of Roti! My roti contained squash, channa and hot sauce today, and it was good. The wrap, however, seemed a bit thick and tough compared to the usual.

So tantalizingly close to roti perfection!

V for Vegetable Roti

Today I had a vegetable roti and it was good.

It reminded me of that old saying...
"People should not be afraid of their rotis; rotis should be afraid of their people."
